Registered Nurse in Lake Worth

Oncology experience not required. Physician practice will train!

Job Responsibilities:

Provide nursing care to patients undergoing complex procedures; administer chemotherapy in the infusion area and help maintain a safe and secure environment that meets patient needs.
Deliver nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with stated medical plans of care while observing and recording signs, symptoms and behavior of patients in medical records.
Participate in evaluating needs of patients and assessing problems that affect oncology patients
Recommend policy and/or procedural changes according to oncology nursing expertise
Document nursing assessments, patient care interventions and education in medical records
Triage patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols and documents such inquiries and results in patients' medical records
Administer transfusions to oncology patients
Ensure the appropriate patient consent and authorizations are obtained for research and/or medical treatment
Facilitate communication between patients and physicians and assisting patients through the oncology treatment process
Provide patient oncology nursing education, procedural instructions, general health information and physician instructions in person and via telephone
Obtain medical histories from patients through structured interviews in accordance with departmental guidelines
Advise patients on pain management techniques and treating the side effects of chemotherapy
Stay up-to-date on the latest cancer treatment procedures
Provide patient counseling based on specialized and/or advanced knowledge gained through your education and experience

Job Requirements:

Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Active FL RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure required
Minimum of 1 year experience in oncology nursing required
Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
Fluency in Spanish Preferred
ONS Chemo Biotherapy Certification and OCN Certification preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a course accredited by the American Heart Association preferred
Ability to pass a criminal background check required
